MPD’s Top Cop Leads from the HeartThe Montclair Police Department (MPD) participates in a number of events which focus on the Township’s most vulnerable populations. Since becoming Chief of Police, Todd Conforti has been committed to being visible and accessible in the community, frequently meeting with residents, business owners, community groups, and faith-based organizations. He is often seen walking through the Central Business District holding conversations with community members while getting coffee.

But the Chief takes a special interest in helping those with special needs. Over the past few months Chief Conforti and his officers have participated in numerous events and activities with our special needs community, most recently:

  • Jazz House Kids “Something Wonderful”
  • Autism Awareness Month “Take Me Home Registry”
  • Essex County Special Olympics Swim Meet
  • Essex County Special Olympics Track Meet
  • Essex County Special Olympics Torch Run
  • Montclair High School Transition Program “Police Internship”

While the members of the Montclair Police Department make every effort to reach and serve every citizen, Chief Conforti and the officers take particular pride in their relationship with the special needs community, often volunteering their time and raising donations to help bring awareness to organizations which assist those with special needs. The MPD hosts and participates in numerous community-focused events and activities, but there is no doubt that the special needs community has a direct connection to the Top Cop with a big heart.
