Senior, People with Disabilities Transportation

Lifelong Montclair, in partnership with Essex County, offers new and improved transportation services for Montclair residents age 60+ and residents with disabilities in order to meet the needs of residents who are unable to safely or independently reach their destinations. Rides are available throughout all of Essex County and the City of Clifton for a multitude of transportation needs such as medical, recreational, shopping, and beyond!

A one-time registration is required with Montclair Senior Services by calling 973-509-4974. Qualified riders will receive 28 rides per month free. You must begin your ride in Montclair or end your ride in Montclair. Every rider can seek transportation services through one central phone number by calling EZRide at 201-939-4242 ext 4, or visit ryde4life.org.

Hours: Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

No advance reservation needed for regular rides; rides are on-demand. A cell phone is needed for communication and security.

If you are a rider who requires ADA compliant transportation services, EZRide will now be able to connect you with Essex County Community Transportation Services, where you can schedule an accommodating ride – 48-hour advance notice required.

Access Link (ADA compliant)

Access Link is a public transportation service established to comply with the paratransit regulations of the ADA. Access Link service is comparable to the NJ TRANSIT local fixed route bus and light rail systems. Access Link is for people with disabilities who are unable to use the local fixed route bus for some or all of their rides.

Access Link reservations can be made by calling 973-491-4224  and selecting option #2 or using our online options at accesslink.njtransit.com  or using njtransit.com and selecting ACCESSIBILITY from the main menu and then selecting Access Link online from the drop-down menu.  Fees vary.

All rides must be for a medical reason like a doctor appointment or dialysis. You must ask for a ride at least 2 business days before you need it.

Please have the following ready when you call for a ride:

  • Your NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid ID number - Your pick-up address and zip code
  • Name, phone number and address of medical provider
  • Appointment time and date - Special transportation needs

Please be ready and waiting at least 15 minutes before your ride is scheduled.

Free transportation within Essex County for people ages 60+ or individuals with disabilities. Trip reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance.
