Special Events

Montclair Township is host to a number of annual events popular with locals and visitors alike.

The Montclair Film Festival (MFF) is host to an annual 10-day event that brings together global and local filmmakers with diverse audiences. The MFF also presents films and year-round programs that engage, entertain and educate through the power of visual storytelling.

The African-American Heritage Parade and Festival are annual events which take place on the first Saturday in June each year.

On the first Sunday in June Montclair is host to the annual YMCA 10K Run and 2-mile Walk/Run -- great fun for the whole family. The 10K run is USATF sanctioned.

AAPI Montclair, in partnership with the Montclair Art Museum, host an annual Lunar New Year celebration featuring family-friendly educational, cultural, and social activities to offer community members a chance to celebrate and learn about Lunar New Year together. Celebrations include performances from local artists and students, dancers, dragon parades, arts & crafts, and exciting offerings from food trucks and local vendors.

AAPI Montclair is a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit that advocates for and uplifts Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Montclair, NJ area.

June is also the month when Out Montclair, a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization established in 2021 to provide community, support, and solidarity for LGBTQIA+ people in the greater Montclair area, hosts a star-studded line-up of performers, speakers, and exciting events for Montclair Pride, the largest Pride festival in the state.

The Montclair July 4th parade is a not-to-be-missed event where people from Montclair and neighboring communities line up to celebrate this time-honored tradition. The parade is followed by a picnic in Edgemont Memorial Park.

The annual Montclair Jazz Festival is hailed as the biggest single one-day event in the Township. Thousands come out for live performances by jazz greats and Montclair's own Jazz House Kids. Held in August every year.

Recreation and Cultural Affairs also hosts a number of holiday and remembrance events: holiday tree lighting and visit with Santa, Mr. Bunny's Springtime Fun, and Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
