Montclair Police officers responded to a report of a man with a single bullet wound to the abdomen on Sunday, April 29 at approximately 10:53 p.m. A passerby had made the call to 911.
The victim, a 25-year-old male from Elizabeth, had been shot in the area of Planchet Drive in Montclair. He was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition.
Police investigations led to the identification and arrest of Mr. Daevon Saunders-Roberts (20-year-old from Montclair) and Ms. Quanaisa Owens (18-year-old from Elizabeth) on Monday, May 1 for their involvement in the incident.
Mr. Saunders-Roberts was charged with robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Ms. Owens was charged with conspiracy. The incident is still under investigation.
