Montclair Embarks on Second Round of Sustainable Essex Alliance (SEA) Electricity Aggregation Program.
Virtual Public Information Session to be held Tuesday, February 23
In 2019, the Township joined with four other Essex County towns to form The Sustainable Essex Alliance, with the goal of purchasing electricity delivered by PSE&G but generated from twice the amount of clean, renewable sources compared to the rest of the state, while reducing utility bill costs for our residents. That award-winning program was a success, bringing us cleaner energy while cumulatively saving our community over $850,000.
That original 17-month contract ended in December 2020. We are pleased to announce that we have negotiated a Round 2 contract to the low bidder, Energy Harbor, which will begin in April. Once again, we will now receive almost double the amount of cleaner, renewably-generated electricity, at no additional cost, in fact lowering PSE&G electricity supply rates over the term of the contract.
Montclair residents are now receiving letters in the mail announcing this Sustainable Essex Alliance Renewable Government Energy Aggregation Program. Please note that the announcement letters arrive in an envelope marked with the Township Seal, the program name (“Township of Montclair Sustainable Essex Alliance”), followed by our supplier’s company name – Energy Harbor – with the return address of their headquarters in Ohio.
