Burglary / Theft
May 27, 2021 (Prospect Avenue): The resident reported that he was on the third floor of his residence and heard a noise coming from his staircase. Upon investigating the noise, he observed an unknown person in the stairwell. The unknown person reportedly stated, “I rang the doorbell but nobody answered. Is Nick home?” The resident advised the male suspect that nobody by that name lived at the residence and the subject left the home walking south on Prospect Avenue towards Claremont Avenue. He was described as a black male, late thirties to early forties, approximately 5’09” tall, moderate build, with curly or braided hair, dressed in an unkempt fashion, and no facial hair.
May 27, 2021 (Orange Road): The victim reported that his bicycle was stolen from the fifth level of the Orange Road Parking Deck. The bicycle was described as a white and blue SE "Big Ripper", checkered white and blue pads, black tires, blue rims, silver cranks, 29" wheels with a long black scratch on top of the frame. It was valued at $749.00.
May 28, 2021 (North Willow Street): A Township employee reported that a Township Animal Control vehicle that had been parked in the Walnut Street parking lot had been stolen. The vehicle was a 1999 White Ford Econoline Van with “Montclair” in blue lettering displayed on front driver and passenger side doors. The vehicle was recovered May 29, 2021, parked and unoccupied, on Mt Prospect Avenue in Newark.
May 28, 2021 (Church Street): The victim reported her apartment was entered between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Entry appears to have been gained by force through the front door. Nothing was reported missing at this time.
Attempted Luring
May 27, 2021 (South Park Street): The victim reported that while walking from her residence to the area of South Park Street, she was approached by an unknown male in a vehicle who reportedly stated, “Hey come over to my car. Let me get your Snapchat”. The victim refused and the male then said, “Hey get in my car”. The victim again refused and the vehicle fled north on Orange Road towards Hillside Avenue. The suspect was described as a black male, in his early 20's, slender build with short dark hair, and stubble beard. He was wearing a black t shirt. The only description of the vehicle was a grey four (4) door sedan. No make or model was provided. Anyone with information can contact Detective Jamar Jones at (973) 509-4705.
Criminal Mischief
May 28, 2021 (Valley Road): The victim reported that the parked his vehicle in the King’s Supermarket parking lot and when he returned, he discovered his front windshield cracked and a dent in the passenger side door.
Arrests
May 27, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Mr. Osiris English (18 years old, Montclair) was arrested on open warrants out of Montclair.
May 27, 2021 (Trinity Place): Mr. Mark Garner (62 years old, Montclair) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a single car motor vehicle accident.
