Police Blotter: January 11, 2022 – January 18, 2022
Thefts
January 11, 2022 (Church Street): A 2021 Ford Bronco reported stolen out of Nutley was recovered unoccupied in a Church Street Parking Lot. Surveillance footage shows the vehicle arrive in the lot at 7:26 AM and reverse into a parking space. Three males were seen exiting the vehicle and walking away. The vehicle was turned over to Nutley PD.
January 12, 2022 (Graham Terrace): The victim reported that his Apple iPhone 7+ was stolen from his unlocked vehicle. Tracking capabilities indicated the phone was located on Eastwood Street in East Orange before the tracking was disabled.
January 14, 2022 (Orange Road): The victim reported his 2021 Ford work van was entered and tools were removed. Surveillance video shows a light-colored sedan pull up next to the victim’s vehicle at approximately 6:00AM. A black male in dark clothing is seen exiting the suspect vehicle and breaking the lock of the work van to make entry. A ‘Milwaukee’ toolbox containing power drills was removed.
A second report was taken from a residence on Trinity Place shortly thereafter where another work van was entered by force. In this incident, a ‘Mikita” power drill was removed.
January 14, 2022 (Christopher Street): A 2018 Honda CRV was entered during the overnight hours. He owner reported that the vehicle was entered and rummaged through but nothing appeared to be missing.
January 14, 2022 (Vera Place): A 2019 BMW X5 was stolen from outside a Vera Place residence. The owner reported leaving the vehicle unattended while she picked up her child. The victim stated that the vehicle was unlocked but she retained possession of her key fob.
January 15, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 2022 Hyundai Venue was entered while it was parked outside the American Legion Post. A backpack was stolen containing a NJ Driver's License, Military I.D., Navy Federal bank card, $140.00 in U.S. currency, three Chase Bank debit cards.
$50.00 TD Bank gift cards, and two white gold rings valued at approximately $2,000. The total loss is approximately $2,438.00.
January 16, 2022 (Lloyd Road): A resident of Lloyd Road reported observing an unknown person in a white SUV exit and attempt to steal his 2021 Mercedes. The resident chased after the suspect who retreated to the SUV and fled the scene. The suspect was described only as a white male.
