Motor Vehicle Crime
March 2, 2022 (Laurel Place): The victim reported that at some point between noon and 5:00 PM, a backpack was stolen from her vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the area of the Iris Gardens. The Vera Wang bag was valued at $50 and contained a wallet, two debit cards, a vaccination card, $120 cash, and a New Jersey driver's license.
March 2, 2022 (Valley Road): The victim reported that he observed a male party enter a vehicle that he had been working on and flee down the driveway. The suspect entered a newer model black Honda Civic and fled south on Valley Road. The victim stated that the only item he believes is missing is a set of car keys. The suspect was described only as a male wearing a thin black puffy jacket and a grey hooded sweatshirt.
March 6, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 2017 Mercedes Benz C30 was stolen from the 7-11 parking lot. The victim stated that she left her vehicle running but retained possession of the key fob. The vehicle was recovered the following day in Nassau County, New York.
Burglary / Theft
March 3, 2022 (Montclair Avenue): A caretaker arrived at a Montclair Avenue residence to check on the property and discovered unknown persons had entered the home through a basement door sometime in the past three or four days. It appears some jewelry and an undetermined amount of cash was removed from the home.
March 5, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim reported that while sitting on Church Street a male approached her and stole a coffee cup from her that contained cash. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a purple top and jeans. The cup reportedly contained between
$50.00 and $100.00.
March 8, 2022 (Grove Street): At 1:52 AM Officers responded to Grove Pharmacy on an activated burglar alarm. Responding officers discovered a brick laying on the sidewalk and the front glass door had been completely pushed in. Officers checked the interior of the business but the suspect(s) were no longer on scene. The owner arrived and confirmed a total of approximately $300.00 was removed from three separate cash registers. Surveillance video shows the suspects to be two males wearing hooded sweatshirts and sweatpants. One male had a backpack. Both males are wearing medical masks, sneakers, and gloves. They were last seen running north on Grove Street towards Oxford Street.
