Police Blotter: April 19, 2022 – April 26, 2022
Motor Vehicle Crime
April 19, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim reported that he parked his 2021 Volvo CX90 on Bloomfield Avenue and entered a local business. When he returned a few minutes later his vehicle was gone. A witness reported observing three juvenile males enter the vehicle and flee west on Bloomfield Avenue. The vehicle was recovered on April 20, 2022 in Newark.
April 19, 2022 (Brooklawn Road): The resident reported observing a blue sedan pull up in front of her residence. A male exited the passenger side of the sedan and was observed entering her son’s vehicle, parked in the driveway. The resident alerted her son who ran out of his residence and chased the suspect off. The suspect retreated to the blue sedan and was last seen fleeing west on Brooklawn Road.
April 19, 2022 (Hilltop Place): An employee of AAA reported that while servicing a client on Hilltop Place, an unknown person entered his work van and stole several items. The victim reported a Microsoft Surface Laptop, and a metal case containing a wedge, two hand pumps for windows, a power supply, and a thermos were stolen.
April 20, 2022 (Warren Place): A contractor reported that while performing work at a residence, an unknown person stole his wallet from his van. He reported approximately $1000 in unauthorized transactions were made to his debit card.
April 20, 2022 (Gates Avenue): The victim reported that his 2021 BMW X7 was stolen from his driveway. The vehicle was left unlocked with the key inside because he was waiting for a service technician to pick the vehicle up later in the day.
April 20, 2022 (Central Avenue): The resident reported that an unknown person entered her vehicle as she was walking her children into her home. The suspect removed a bag which contained a laptop computer.
April 21, 2022 (Heller Way): The resident reported that his Audi Q7 was stolen from his driveway. Members of the State Police Auto Theft Task Force observed the vehicle in Newark discarding the vehicle’s GPS. The occupants of the Audi fled from the vehicle on foot. Five of the six suspects were apprehended.
April 21, 2022 (Summit Avenue): The resident reported observing a group of individuals entering his parked Subaru. The suspect’s retreated to an awaiting vehicle and fled west on Summit Avenue. Nothing was reported missing.
April 25, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim reported that he parked his 2021 BMW X7 in the Lackawanna Plaza parking lot. When he returned to the vehicle after dining at a nearby restaurant, the vehicle was gone.
Attempted Burglary
April 21, 2022 (Orange Road): The caller reported that while sitting in her apartment she heard a noise coming from her rear door. She observed her rear door become ajar but could not open fully due to the chain lock being engaged. She observed the hand of a male reaching through the door which caused her to yell. The male fled the scene in a dark colored Mazda. The suspect was only described as a black male.
Theft
April 24, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): The attendant at the Shell Gas Station reported a 2018 Nissan Rouge received a full tank of gas and fled without paying. The vehicle was occupied by three males wearing masks and received $67.11 worth of gas. This Nissan was a reported stolen vehicle from Newark.
Suspicious Incident
April 25, 2022 (Maple Avenue): The resident reported that he was walking to his apartment on Maple Avenue from Bloomfield Avenue when he noticed he was being followed by an unknown person. The unknown person followed the resident into the foyer of the building and exposed his penis. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20-30's, approximately 6’00” tall, thin build, with short black hair, short goatee, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Arrests
April 19, 2022 (Walden Place): Officers responded to a residence on Walden Place on a report of an unknown person in the home. Officers located a 29-year-old male from East Orange inside of the residence. He was charged with Burglary and transported to the Essex County Jail.
April 19, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 39-year-old male from Montclair was arrested on an open warrant from the Essex County Sheriffs Department.
April 23, 2022 (Glenridge Avenue): A 43-year-old male from Newark was arrested on outstanding warrants from Newark following a motor vehicle stop.
