The CRC has four committees: Public Safety (Police and Fire department issues), Education, Affordable Housing, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
Public Safety
The Public Safety committee's 2022 focus includes investigating and working on policing-related issues across the township, deepening relationships with MPD and MFD, and coordination with the anti-hate crimes task force as appropriate.
Education
The Education committee ensures ethical and equitable access to education for all students. It serves as a sounding board and source of support on any issues regarding access to education and related activities. Additionally, this committee strengthens communication and relationships with Montclair School District, including following up on current events in regular and special education.
Affordable Housing
The Affordable Housing committee's 2022 focus includes ensuring access to affordable housing across Montclair and identifying barriers to this.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
The DEI committee's 2022 focus includes increasing awareness of DEI among Montclair citizens and businesses, serving as a point of education on systemic racism and bias, fostering collaboration with other towns' CRC committees and providing advisory capacity to businesses, individuals and the township council.
