The Senior Citizens Advisory Committee (SCAC) assesses services and issues important to Township seniors, makes recommendations to the Council and staff on programs and policies, and serves as a liaison to seniors throughout town.
Pursuant to Resolution R-22-017, SCAC shall consist of fifteen (15) members and shall be comprised of senior citizens, residents professionally trained and experienced in service for the elderly, and other interested residents, with four (4) at-large seats including at least one homeowner and one renter, and with a presentative from each of the following Township entities (unless otherwise noted):
- AARP-Montclair
- Aging in Montclair (AIM)
- Do Drop In,
- Gateway to Aging in Place (GAP)
- Montclair Senior Housing Action Group,
- Montclair Institute for Lifelong Learning (The Mill) (one participant and one volunteer),
- Montclair Township’s affordable senior citizen housing projects, specifically:
- First Montclair House,
- South End Gardens,
- Montclair Inn,
- Pineridge of Montclair
The Committee meets on Zoom. SCAC meetings are held quarterly on the second Monday of each quarter – July, October, January and April.
