Tennis Court Rules & Guidelines

  1. Tennis professionals must obtain a valid tennis permit from the Recreation Dept. which allows him/her to teach PRIVATE lessons on Montclair’s public courts.
  2. A listing of all the Pros who obtained a permit will be available at the Montclair Recreation Department. Names and phone numbers will be given out to anyone inquiring about private lessons.
  3. Playing Time: Playing Time is restricted to 1 court per hour for everyone and limited to 1 ball hopper only. No player may play longer than 1 hr. when others are waiting for court.
  4. MRCA tennis court regulations. No private lessons will be permitted during peak times: Sat, Sun, & Holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  5. Montclair Recreation’s tennis program and Montclair Board of Education have first priority with court time.
  6. No outside camps, groups, or clinics are allowed on Montclair Township courts unless sanctioned by Montclair Recreation Department. Pros are not allowed to have more than 3 people in their class at one time.
  7. Failure to comply with the Montclair Recreation’s rules and regulations will result in confiscation of the Pros permit and the right to conduct business on our courts.
  8. Bicycles, Skateboards, rollerblades, street hockey or animals are prohibited from the courts. Also, no food or chairs are allowed on courts.
  9. No saving courts.
