Food Distribution
The Township of Montclair's Division of Senior Services/Lifelong Montclair thanks the generosity of Toni's Kitchen, Antika Grill, Montclair Center BID,the Kiwanis Club of Montclair, Sovos Brands/Rao's, Gelati by Mike, and the Montclair Art Museum who have worked together to develop a program to deliver free groceries and prepared meals to Montclair's older residents. This service is for every older Montclair resident, regardless of income, to enable individuals to remain home to reduce their exposure to COVID-19.
"I can't express the gratitude I feel for these organizations to commit so many resources to make sure our older residents don't have to make hard choices about food or their health," said Katie York, Director of Senior Services/Lifelong Montclair.
Residents aged 60+ are encouraged to sign up by leaving their name and address (including apartment number) via voicemail to 973-509-4979 or email to [email protected].
Transportation Updates
To prevent spread of COVID-19 to those who are most vulnerable to the virus, the Division of Senior Services/Lifelong Montclair has suspended the operation of the Montclair Senior Bus.
If individuals still have an urgent transportation need, Senior Services/Lifelong Montclair will review requests on a case-by-case basis, but the health and safety of our residents will remain the highest priority.
The division is continually monitoring the situation, and the Township's partnership with EZ Ride allows us to be nimble as changes are warranted.

Grocery Update
Umbrella is now coordinating grocery delivery and medication pick up for all seniors in Montclair and the surrounding towns (no membership needed). People 60 and over can either fill out the form here or call 973-200-4499 to place an order. They can place online orders for non-digital seniors or if wait times are too long, they can match you with a local volunteer who can grocery shop on your behalf. They are taking a small processing fee of ~$5 per order to cover their call center costs, but that is the only additional fee. For more information, visit https://www.askumbrella.com/covid-response
Important News
New Jersey has issued a moratorium on foreclosures during this crisis. While a lender may not foreclose on your property during this time, you may still incur late fees and/or have other obligations that need to be met. HOMECorp recommends that you reach out to your lender as soon as you think there might be an issue. Keep a log of any calls and keep copies of any documentation that you send. The state and federal governments are working on legislation and guidance that HOMECorp will share on their website and social media. In the meantime, always expect that you must request any change to your mortgage - nothing is done automatically. If you have any questions, please reach out to HOMECorp's Housing Counseling office - 973-860-7106 (you can leave a message and someone will return your call) or [email protected].
