State and Federal Tax Filing Deadlines
Federal
The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service announced that the federal income tax filing due date for individuals for the 2020 tax year will be automatically extended from April 15, 2021, to May 17, 2021. The IRS will be providing formal guidance in the coming days. Fore more information visit the IRS website.
State
New Jersey will extend its deadline for filing income taxes to May 17, following the move by the federal government. The state will still require any estimated tax payments for the first quarter of 2021 that were due on April 15.
