Temporary Handicapped Parking Placards. Residents can obtain a NJ Motor Vehicle Commission Application for a Temporary Handicapped Parking Placard. The placard and instructions either online or in person from the Montclair Police Department. The tag can be used for up to 6 months, with one six-month renewal allowed. The Application for Temporary Placard is a New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission form that must be completed and submitted in person to the township Chief of Police at 647 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07042.
Permanent New Jersey Disability License Plates and Placards can be obtained from the New Jersey State Motor Vehicle Commission.

Parking for the Disabled. In Montclair, people with handicapped placards may park on the street during the day and overnight as long as they move their vehicle within a 24-hour period. When parking at meters, those with handicapped placards must put in the first quarter and then stay at the meter as long as necessary.
EZ Ride's Montclair Senior Bus is a service of the township's Departments of Health and Senior Services. This free, door-to-door service operates Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and is available to residents 55 and older and those with disabilities. Riders who live South of Bloomfield Ave. will have priority Mondays and Thursdays. Riders who live North of Bloomfield Ave. will have priority Tuesdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, the bus will provide rides to and from ShopRite-Brookdale. You can also reserve rides to ShopRite on Mondays and Fridays, subject to terms above. Destinations include popular locations within town, such as the Library, Mountainside Hospital, the YMCA, Edgemont Park House and the Wally Choice Center. NJ Transit / Montclair Shuttle Bus is a limited, evening service equipped with a wheelchair lift. It operates weekday evenings from 6:20 p.m. to 8:09 p.m. (holidays, weekends, and days the Montclair Public Schools are closed are not included.) The Shuttle Bus provides transportation for Montclair residents along the area of the bus route: 1. New Jersey Transit Bay Street Station; 2. Pine St. across Bloomfield Ave. to Maple Ave; 3. Maple Ave. to Lincoln St.; 4. Lincoln St. to Elm St.; 5. Junction of Orange Rd./Elm St. and Llwellyn Rd. to Harrison Ave.; 6. Harrison Ave. to Llewellyn Rd.; 7. Llewellyn Rd. to South Mountain Ave.; and 8. Intersection of Bloomfield and South Mountain Avenues. Essex County para-transit is available to disabled or elderly. County residents can book a ride to and from doctor, shopping, etc. Up to 14 days in advance. There is no application process. The number for information is 973-618-1280.
