General Statement from the CRC:
As Commissioners of the CRC, we must continue fighting for substantive and procedural equality, fairness, and justice. We are charged with identifying and investigating civil rights violations and discrimination in our township with a focus of and intent to reduce and eliminate such behavior across our town. This does include the activities within Town Hall and our town services as well.
We support and stand next to all individuals regardless of their race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, marital status, liability for service in the Armed Forces of the United States or nationality. With tragic recent national events as a catalyst, our efforts to evolve our society and governance provide an opportunity to cement the rights and improve the experience of all Montclairians (including LGBTQIA, AAPI, Jewish, African American, Latino American, Muslim American, and others). From now on, justice, transparency and accountability should take precedence over fear, secrecy and unequal treatment.
We invite you to contact us with your concerns, ideas, and initiatives to amplify all our united efforts and influence change across Montclair, the state of New Jersey and the entire country. We look forward to continued dialogue and an opportunity to share these collective efforts with you.
