Canterbury Park Improvements

Monday, November 14, 2022, the Canterbury Park playground closed temporarily for planned improvement work:

  • removing existing wood chip safety surface
  • installing a new, poured-in-place safety surface in playground area
  • repaving  existing asphalt pathways (work to be completed at a later date)

Please note that work continues as weather permits.

Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project (Bid #22-07)

Insituform Technologies, LLC providing Cleaning and Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) rehabilitation of approximately 27,700 linear feet of sanitary sewer main and storm drain ranging in size from 8-inch to 24-inch located throughout the Township of Montclair. In addition to rehabilitation work, cleaning and CCTV inspection of approximately 11,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer main ranging in size from 8-inch to 21-inch along Watchung Avenue.

Water Bureau Hydrant Flushing

The Water Bureau announces began fall hydrant flushing on dead end water mains and on streets which border a neighboring town on Monday, November 14, 2022. Flushing is done during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Flushing will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Street Improvement Projects

Curbing:

Cross Street  – scheduled to commence on or about Monday, November 21, 2022, weather permitting. Construction activity will be on Cross Street.

Maple Avenue – from Lexington Avenue to Woodland Avenue. Scheduled to commence on or about Thursday, November 17, 2022, weather permitting. Construction activity will be on Maple Avenue.

Lexington Avenue – from Walnut Street to Claremont Avenue. Scheduled to commence on or about Tuesday, November 15, 2022, weather permitting. Construction activity will be on Lexington Avenue.

Maple Avenue – from Lexington Avenue to Lincoln Street. Scheduled to commence on or about Monday, November 14, 2022, weather permitting. Construction activity will be on Maple Avenue.

Please note: work will continue as weather permits.

The construction time will vary depending on the street length, however, you can expect curb and ADA curb construction to last approximately 2-3 days. Please note all estimates for the length of construction are only estimates, which may be affected by inclement weather, material supply problems, etc.
