Police Blotter March 2, 2021 – March 9, 2021

Vandalism

March 2, 2021 (North Fullerton Avenue): Patrol took a report of vandalism at the North Fullerton Parking Deck. The complainant reported that between 8:00AM February 25th and 8:00 AM March 1st, an unknown person spray painted graffiti on the southside walls of the parking deck and inside the stairwells. The graffiti is described as "Speedo", "Ponyo!", "Say Yes to Drugs", "THEY'RE killing us", "Julian Hurts" and different unknown drawings.

Theft

March 2, 2021 (The Crescent): The manager of The Crescent Parking Deck reported that a white Chevy Malibu left the parking garage without paying the required $24.00 ticket.

March 6, 2021 (Stanford Avenue): The complainant reported that her daughter’s iPhone SE valued at
$400.00 was stolen. The phone was last seen at Dunkin Donuts on Bloomfield Avenue.

Theft from Motor Vehicle

March 4, 2021 (Club Road): The resident reported that he was inside of his home and observed an unknown male exit a dark colored Range Rover and walk up his driveway. The male then entered his vehicle that was parked in his driveway. The resident yelled out to the suspect who ran back to the Range Rover and fled north on Cornell Way. The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 5’6” tall, wearing a long sleeve top, black pants, and a black scarf or mask. The vehicle was described as a very dark gray Range Rover with a matte finish on the paint, New Jersey license plates, and dark tints on all windows, including the windshield.

Motor Vehicle Theft

March 4, 2021 (Aubrey Road): A white 2017 Acura ILX 4 door vehicle was stolen from the resident’s driveway. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with the keys and owner’s wallet inside. The vehicle was recovered the next day in Jefferson County, West Virginia. Two males from Jersey City were arrested.

Recovered Motor Vehicle

March 8, 2021 (Woodland Avenue): Patrol responded to a Woodland Avenue address on a parking complaint. A 2019 Toyota Camry reported stolen on March 5, 2021 from Pequannock, NJ was located parked and unoccupied.

Suspicious Incident

March 7, 2021 (Walnut Street): The resident reported that an unknown male was captured on their home surveillance system loitering near her family’s parked vehicles. The incident occurred at 1:44 AM. In the video, a light skinned male wearing a baseball cap, dark colored hooded outer garment, and dark pants walks east in the yard. He then walks between a silver 2014 Hyundai Elantra and a Black 2011 VPG MV1. The man briefly cannot be seen on video then is seen walking west away from the vehicle, holding what appears to be a cigarette in his left hand. The complainant reported that this is the second time they discovered this male near their cars.

March 9, 2021 (Bellegrove Drive): At approximately 2:40AM an officer on patrol observed a red Ford Edge travelling slowly north on Bellegrove Drive and stop in the middle of the road. The front seat passenger began to exit the vehicle but upon seeing the approaching patrol car, got back inside of the Ford which then fled at a high rate of speed. Upon reaching the dead end, the vehicle entered Yantecaw Brook Park. The vehicle continued through the park and out onto Yantecaw Brook Road. The officer went around the block and located the Ford on Alexander Avenue in the area of Stonehenge Road without its headlights on. The vehicle then fled down Stonehenge Road and entered Tuers Park before exiting and making its way back onto Alexander Avenue. The vehicle was last seen north on Broad Street, entering Clifton. It was occupied by four black males.

Arrests 

March 5, 2021 (Grove Street): Ms. Nyajah Levister (23 year-old female, Passaic, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

March 6, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Mr. Cristhiam Vela (37 year-old, Cedar Grove, NJ) was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.
