Police Blotter: March 29, 2022 – April 4, 2022
Criminal Mischief
March 29, 2022 (Glenridge Avenue): The general contractor for a building under construction on Glenridge Avenue reported that a unit on the top floor of the building had its walls and floors spray painted. The suspects reportedly climbed a fence to gain access to the property.
April 4, 2022 (Upper Montclair Plaza): The building manager reported that several juvenile males made entry into the building on Saturday evening between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The walls were sprayed with an unknown liquid and a basket was torn off a door. Surveillance video shows the suspects to be six white males in their teens and one Asian male in his teens.
April 4, 2022 (Valley Road): A Montclair Parking Enforcement Officer reported that she parked her township vehicle in the parking lot of Quick Check and entered the store to make a purchase. When she returned ten minutes later, she discovered three of the tires on her vehicle had been slashed.
Motor Vehicle Crime
March 29, 2022 (Clinton Avenue): A 2018 Porsche Macan was stolen from a driveway on Clinton Avenue. Two individuals were seen exiting a white midsize SUV and enter the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the scene in it. The vehicle was recovered the next day, unoccupied, in Freehold, NJ.
March 31, 2022 (Walnut Street): A 2021 Ford Bronco was stolen from a lot on Walnut Street. Surveillance video shows the suspect approach and steal the vehicle at approximately 3:30 AM.
April 1, 2022 (Church Street): The complainant reported that while working as a valet on Church Street, a grey BMW with New York registration pulled up along the valet booth. An unknown male exited the BMW, approached the booth, and attempted to take several keys. The suspect was chased away and entered the BMW which fled west on Church Street. The suspect was described as a black male, 19-22 years old, 5’06” tall, with medium length hair (braided), wearing a dark color sweatshirt and blue jeans. The BMW was reported stolen out of Livingston, NJ.
April 4, 2022 (Mission Street): A Catalytic Converter was stolen from a 2007 Honda Accord. The vehicle was parked on Mission Street and Elmwood Avenue during the overnight hours.
April 4, 2022 (Glenridge Avenue): A Catalytic Converter was stolen from a 2004 Honda Pilot. The vehicle was parked on Glenridge Avenue between March 27, 2022 and March 30, 2022.
April 4, 2022 (Maple Avenue): A Catalytic Converter was stolen off of a 2006 Honda Accord during the overnight hours.
April 4, 2022 (Mission Street): A 2015 Jeep Cherokee was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Mission Street. Upon the arrival officers, the vehicle was found to be abandoned. It was reported stolen out of East Orange, NJ.
Arrests
March 30, 2022 (Bellevue Avenue): A 30-year-old male from Irvington, NJ was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop.
April 3, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): A 32-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Disorderly Conduct following a disturbance on Bloomfield Avenue.
