Police Blotter May 4, 2021 – May 11, 2021

Theft

May 5, 2021 (Victoria Terrace): The resident reported that a Worx robotic lawn mower valued at $1,200.00 was stolen from his front yard. It was last seen on the evening of May 4,2021.

Criminal Mischief

May 5, 2021 (North Fullerton Avenue): An employee of the Township of Montclair reported that an unknown person(s) cut the lock to the gate at the Rand Park Skate Park. The incident reportedly occurred between May 1, 2021 and May 2, 2021. The lock was described as a G- Force lock valued at $17.00.

May 7, 2021 (Trinity Place): Code Enforcement personnel reported that numerous sidewalk tiles that had recently been re-cemented had been vandalized. Etched into the fresh cement were the phrases “Snowbunny Ropebunny" along with satanic pentagrams, the vandal's possible Instagram handle "@BornFromKarma", and profanity terms.

Strong Arm Robbery

May 6, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): The victim reported that he was near the Exxon Gas Station convenience store entrance when a black male approached him asking to try on his shoes. The victim was carrying a blue Air Jordan shoe box containing Air Jordan Concord 11 shoes (valued at $500). The victim allowed the suspect to try on one shoe. The suspect told the victim that he needed to try on both shoes. The victim would not allow the suspect to try both at once at which time the suspect grabbed the shoes and the box and started to flee west on Bloomfield Avenue. The victim stated he chased the suspect and was able to grab hold of the shoes and the box and retrieve his belongings from the suspect. The suspect continued running west on Bloomfield Avenue. He was described as a black male, mid 20’s, thin build, approximately 6’0” tall, with a buzzed haircut, tattoo on his face, wearing black jeans and a black jacket.

Burglary

May 7, 2021 (Bellevue Avenue): Officers responded to the former Bellevue Theater on a report of a burglary and criminal mischief. The complainant reported that he entered the building with an insurance adjuster and discovered new graffiti throughout the building. The vandalism included numerous profane phrases and images in marker and spray paint.

May 10, 2021 (Valley Road): A tenant of a Valley Road office building reported an unknown person(s) made entry into his office over the weekend. Entry appears to have been gained through a locked front door by using a prying device. At the time of the report, noting appeared to have been missing from the office. While canvassing the remaining offices, a second unit was discovered to have been tampered with. The tenant reported that when he arrived to his office, he discovered tool marks near his door lock. Once inside, the office was rummaged through but nothing was reported missing at this time.
