Police Blotter May 18, 2021 – May 25, 2021

Theft

May 18, 2021 (Claremont Avenue): The resident reported an Amazon package that had been delivered at 11:20 AM was stolen from her front porch. The package contained a book valued at approximately $20.00.

Vandalism

May 20, 2021 (Walnut Street): The complainant reported that he parked his vehicle in the rear of his apartment complex and did not move it for several months. Upon returning to it he discovered a long scratch mark along the driver’s side, a cracked windshield, and a flat front passenger side tire.

Criminal Mischief

May 25, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): An employee of 7-11 reported that at approximately 12:35 AM and unknown male entered the store and attempted to purchase a cup of coffee. An argument ensued over the price of the coffee at which point the male suspect was asked to leave the establishment. While exiting the store, the suspect took the cup of coffee and threw it on the floor. He then began to hit items on the counter, knocking over a computer monitor and the New Jersey Lottery ticket machine before fleeing in an unknown direction. The suspect was described as a black male between 18 to 22 years old, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, white sneakers, a black cross body bag, and a light-colored face mask.

Arrests

May 20, 2021 (Valley Road): Officers were called to the CVS Pharmacy on a report of a shoplifting that just occurred. A female suspect was observed concealing $130.00 worth of hygiene products and fleeing the store. Ms. Lakiesha Herrill (50 years old, Newark, NJ) was located by patrol several blocks away with the proceeds. She was charged with shoplifting.

May 22, 2021 (Bloomfield Avenue): Mr. Jared Mason (27 years old, Bloomfield, NJ) was charged with driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.
