Police Blotter: August 30, 2022 – September 6, 2022

Motor Vehicle Crime

August 31, 2022 (Gates Avenue): The complainant reported that the catalytic converter was stolen form her 2021 BMW. The suspects also entered the vehicle and reportedly stole $20.00 from the center console.

September 6, 2022 (Valley Road): The victim reported that her vehicle was entered during the overnight hours while parked in the Valley Road parking lot. The vehicle was reportedly ransacked and $30.00 in cash was stolen.

Theft

August 31, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): An employee of Montclair Car Care reported that a four door Kia with Florida registration went through the car wash and fled the scene without paying. The employee stated that the vehicle nearly struck one of the workers. It was last seen west on Bloomfield Avenue.

September 1, 2022 (Mission Street): The victim reported that he was dropping money off to an acquaintance on Mission Street when he was approached by an unknown male who went through his pockets and removed twenty dollars in cash. The suspect then ran north on Mission Street.

September 2, 2022 (Lackawanna Plaza): An employee of Popeye’s Louisiana Chicken reported that an unknown person entered the restaurant and proceeded into the manager’s office. The suspect grabbed a money deposit bag which contained staff checks and $100, an iPhone 13Max Pro and an iPhone charger. After taking the items, the suspect fled the store and traveled in an unknown direction.

Burglary

September 4, 2022 (Valley Road): The resident reported that while away from his residence, he received a notification on his cellphone from his home security system. Upon reviewing the footage, it showed an unknown person entering his bedroom through an unlocked window. The suspect is seen opening drawers. The suspect left the residence after taking prescription pills as well as $1750.00 in cash.

Arrests

September 3, 2022 (South Park Street): A 32 year-old male from Montclair was charged with Disorderly Conduct following a disturbance on South Park Street.
