Police Blotter: October 4, 2022 – October 11, 2022

Motor Vehicle Crime

October 4, 2022 (Cambridge Road): A 2018 Mazda CX-5 was reported stolen from a driveway on Cambridge Road. The keys were reported to have been left inside. The vehicle was recovered on October 8, 2022 in Newark. A 22-year-old male from Linden was taken into custody.

October 10, 2022 (Stonebridge Road): The resident reported that she was reviewing her doorbell surveillance when she discovered that an unknown male had entered her BMW a few days prior. The suspect was described as a black male wearing grey sweat pants and a grey hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.

Burglary / Theft

October 4, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): The manager of The Vestry reported that two males forced open the locked doors to the building and entered the mailroom. The males are seen on surveillance opening envelopes and packages. The suspects were described as in their late teens. One is wearing white and black Nike shoes, gray sweatpants and a hooded gray sweatshirt. He is wearing a skull cap that read "boo boo" across the front of it. The second is wearing dark colored Crocs, black tapered sweatpants and a red Adidas hooded sweatshirt.

October 6, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): Employees of Rocky’s Crystals and Minerals reported three juveniles entered the business and stole items. Surveillance shows a light skinned black male with curly hair wearing a white Arianna Grande sweatshirt enter the store with two females. One female appears to be Hispanic with long black hair wearing a black jacket. The other is a white female with long black hair also wearing a dark jacket. All three appear to be in their early teens, possibly middle school age. Surveillance shows them placing several items in their bags before fleeing. It was unknown what was stolen at the time of the report.

October 7, 2022 (Gates Avenue): The resident reported that he was alerted to motion detected on the side of his home. When he checked his surveillance, he observed a male attempting to open the side kitchen door. The male can be described as wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt with hood pulled up over the head, dark pants, and light-colored sneakers. He fled over the fence into a neighboring yard.

October 7, 2022 (Buckingham Road): The resident reported that at 2:07 AM and unidentified male attempted to enter her residence through a side door. The male was wearing what appeared to be a gray jumpsuit. He was unable to make entry and fled into a neighboring yard.

Arrests

October 4, 2022 (Glenridge Avenue): A 32-year-old male from Montclair was charged with Disorderly Conduct following a physical dispute on Glenridge Avenue.

September 29, 2022 (Seymour Street): Officers were working in the area of the Wellmont Theater for the “Almost Dead Tour”. This concert is known to attract individuals who possibly sell and possess toxic chemicals, specifically nitrous oxide. They observed a 21-year-old male from Landisville, PA drop an unknown item in a wooded area on the west side of Seymour Plaza. Officers searched the area and located a large green bag containing a tank holding an unknown chemical, possibly nitrous oxide. Several other tanks were located nearby. The male who dropped the tank was located. He had in his possession multiple packages of balloons and two tank valve knobs. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Toxic Chemical - Sale for purpose of Intoxication and Obstruction. The below pictured items were confiscated from outside of the theater.
