Motor Vehicle Crime

October 26, 2022 (Pleasant Avenue/Ward Place/Rosedale Avenue): In the early morning hours of October 26, 2022, there were multiple reports of entered unlocked vehicles. The reports included vehicles entered on Pleasant Avenue, Ward Place, Rosedale Avenue, Pleasant Way, and Cedar Avenue. The time frame for each theft appears to be between midnight and 2:00AM. The suspects rummaged through each vehicle and took items such as cash, iPhones, chargers, charging cords, clothing, and in one case a wallet. The victim who had his wallet stolen reported unauthorized transactions on his account made in Irvington, NJ. The suspects were described as wearing all black clothing, masks, and gloves.

October 31, 2022 (Linden Avenue): The victim reported that she accidently left her 2017 Honda Pilot unlocked while parked in the driveway. The vehicle contained her wallet and car keys. At approximately 12:49 AM, she discovered her vehicle was stolen.

Theft

October 26, 2022 (South Park Street): The employees at the Verizon store on South Park Street reported that an unknown male entered the store and sat in a chair. While the employee’s attention was diverted, the suspect grabbed two iPhone cell phones that were by the register and ran out of the store. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5'8” in height, early twenties, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a blue mask and had an Apple Air Pod in one ear. The suspect was last seen running south on South Park Street towards The Crescent. The cellphones were valued at $1700.00.

Assault

October 29, 2022 (New Street): The victim reported that he was walking past the Charles Bullock School when he was approached by three black males. The victim stated that the three suspects asked him for money, and when he told them that he did not have any money, they assaulted him causing injuries to his face. The victim sustained a large laceration on the right side of his nose and a laceration near his left eyebrow. Montclair Ambulance Unit responded to the scene and later transported the victim to St. Joseph's University Medical Center for treatment.

October 30, 2022 (Lackawanna Plaza): The victim reported that he was seated outside of Lackawanna Plaza when he was approached by a Hispanic male who began assaulting him. The suspect took the victim’s cellphone and fled in an unknown direction. The victim sustained contusions to his forehead and underneath his eyes. The suspect was described as a heavy-set Hispanic male, 5'5” in height, riding a blue or silver bicycle, no further description or direction of travel was provided.
