Internships

The Montclair Police Department College Internship Program was originally designed to assist college students who are working towards a degree in Criminal Justice and to achieve hands-on training in the law enforcement profession.  While participating in the Montclair Police Department Internship Program, students earn credits while applying their studies to real-world experiences.

Interns experience an overview of the day to day operations of the police department, beginning with dispatch, patrol functions, investigation, and trials; and then branch into specialized units such as Narcotics, MV Accident Investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations.  A visit to the Police Academy, County Morgue, and a Firearms training scenario along with several ride-alongs with patrol officers from each of the three shifts worked round out the program and ensure a complete experience.
