Where were you born? Pennsylvania
When did you move to Montclair? 1982
Why did you move to Montclair.? I used to visit Montclair because my brother lived here. When I got married to a man from Paterson, we decided to buy a house in Montclair. I have lived here ever since.
Are you currently employed? If so, doing what? If you had a career, what was it? I am retired. I retired from Preakness Hospital in Wayne. I worked as a practical nurse. I started working in Pittsburgh, PA and went to school there. After getting married and moving to Paterson, NJ, I stopped working for a while, because I had a daughter and didn’t wanted to interfere with my husband’s work. He was in the Air Force as a meteorologist.
How are you currently engaged in the community? When I started bowling, I didn’t know how to bowl. My husband supported me through my bowling career. When I got better at bowling, my husband bought me a bowling ball. When my husband went overseas, I got my daughter involved in bowling, along with a group of children who wanted to bowl. One of the children that I volunteer to coach in Paterson, bowled two perfect games - 300 points each. After that I started coaching children in Montclair at the Bellclair Lanes in Montclair. I also volunteered for the Red Cross for many years.
What are some of the most important lessons you feel you have learned throughout your life? The most important lesson is to treat others as you wish others to treat you. And don’t go out of your way to try to be the big boss all the time; get along with people.
What are your plans for future? How does Montclair fit into these plans? I bought my house, and I’m going to live in it. I am also going to continue to bowl as long as I can. I got on a bowling team that is going to compete in a tournament in March.
