When did you move to Montclair and why? Lifelong resident of Montclair for 69 years. My parents moved to Montclair in the 1930's, from VA.
Are you currently employed? If so, doing what? If you had a career, what was it? I’ve been retired for the past 10 years. I was employed by the Xerox Corporation for 30 years, as a Senior Printing Systems Analyst, Direct Sales Marketing Division, For High End Laser Printing Products.
How are you currently engaged in the community? I am a member of the Montclair NAACP Branch, and Chair of the Housing Committee. I am Co-Chair of the Montclair Housing Commission, member of the Montclair Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and member of Aging in Montclair.
What organizations or clubs are you affiliated with or a member of? Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 27 Monroe Place Montclair NJ, Nostalgic Automobile Society of Montclair, Car Club, and Montclair African American Heritage Foundation (Note: I'm one of the 2019 MAAHF Grand Marshals for the Parade and Festival).
What are some of the most important lessons you feel you have learned throughout your life? Believing in the Lord, Family First, taking care of my children, and working hard at whatever I do.
What is your mantra or words you live by? ‘Who are the least of these’ is a phrase that originates from Matthew 25: 31- 46, where Jesus speaks of those in need.
What are your plans for future? How does Montclair fit into these plans? To continue working as an Affordable Housing advocate in the community, helping Montclair residents. I will continue working very hard to keep my family of 4 generations in Montclair.
