What is your age and where were you born? I am 79 and was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
When did you move to Montclair and why? 1977. I was visiting friends while relocating from Denver, and I liked the town.
Are you currently employed? If so, doing what? If you had a career, what was it? I was an administrator in various venues: government, education, business.
How are you currently engaged in the community? I have been a member of the Montclair Senior Citizens Advisory Committee (SCAC) since 2006. I was the Chair of SCAC from 2010-2013 and President for three terms. I have also been the President of the Resident Council for PineRidge of Montclair for 16 years.
Have you done any volunteer work? If so what type and with what organization? I was the creative force for TV34 News & Views, SCAC. Under my guidance, we created 100 videos for seniors, produced by seniors. Over the course of four years, we won 2 Jammies, an award for the local cable station. A Jammie is equivalent to an Emmy.
What are some of the most important lessons you feel you have learned throughout your life? I am a people watcher. I go by body language, tone of voice, and content. I find you can understand people faster that way.
What is your mantra or words you live by? Most things people worry about will not be in effect in 80 years and are not worth the energy to worry over.
What are your plans for future? How does Montclair fit into these plans?
I’ll be staying in Montclair. I am not active in events anymore, but I often engage in consultation with my colleagues and keep up with local news through newspapers.
