Montclair Remembers 9/11

Friday, September 11, 2015

In somber remembrance Montclairites gathered to mark the 14th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks that took the lives of so many. Members of Township Council, the Montclair Police and Fire departments, the Montclair Ambulance Unit, friends and neighbors stood before the Watchung Plaza 9/11 memorial while Gran Kestenbaum and her daughter Lauren talked about the fateful day when they lost husband and father Howard Kestenbaum. They thanked the Deputy Mayor – who was Montclair’s mayor in 2001 -- for his continued contact and concern for the Montclair’s 9/11 families.

Deputy Mayor Robert Russo read aloud a poem, “Chagall’s Windows,” which local poet Jessica de Koninck wrote for Ms. Kestenbaum, her close friend, immediately after the September 11 attacks.
