Montclair’s mature citizens recently took part in CarFit – a driver safety initiative hosted by the Montclair Police Department and conducted by the AAA and Seton Hall University’s occupational therapy department. CarFit is a traffic safety program that shows mature drivers how to be as safe as possible and feel more comfortable when driving their vehicles.
Seton Hall students, led by Professor Dr. Meryl Picard, performed safety surveys, and showed participating drivers how to perform safety inspections on their own vehicles.
AAA representative Ron Esposito was there to oversee the CarFit traffic safety initiative.
“We understand that people want to maintain their independence and be able to drive their vehicles for as long as possible,” said Police Chief Todd Conforti. “The CarFit program offers aging drivers a greater degree of safety on the road when the appropriate adjustments are made to their cars."
